Exposure of Teeth

Exposure/Uncovering a tooth is a procedure performed to expose the crown of a impacted tooth not intended to be extracted.

Before and after example of an unerupted tooth exposed for orthodontic bracketingSometimes teeth do not naturally erupt from under the gums.  Many times these teeth need to be realigned with your existing teeth through orthodontic treatment(braces).

Your general dentist or orthodontist may refer you to Dr. Paul to have the gum tissue on top of the unerupted tooth to be lifted up to expose the hidden tooth underneath.

After uncovering or exposing the tooth, your dentist or orthodontist can attach a bracket to the tooth to position and align it with your other teeth.
